Well, it was a crazy but FUN weekend! Cole had a great birthday party and raked in a bunch of cool gifts that he really loved. (Thanks Grandmas and Grandpas!!!)  His favorite part of the weekend was probably going to Daimura Steakhouse so he could sit at the hibachi and get his eyebrows singed off. ;) I think we're going to have to be careful that he doesn't turn into a pyro.

As promised, here are a couple of pictures of the Pokemon Charizard cake.

And Charizard upclose and personal:

Let's just say that I HATE character cakes. I sculpted little Mr. Charizard at least 3 times before this one materialized. *sigh* And what was I thinking, anyway? That much gum paste on top of a cake is TOO HEAVY. Oy vey. Live and learn, I guess. But, at least Cole was impressed, and that's all I was really after anyway. :)

My favorite part of the weekend was Saturday night. After everyone went home, we discovered that there is karaoke on our On Demand menu... for free! Shamelessly, we all sang just about every song on the list. It was insanely fun. There was singing. There was dancing. There was air guitar. We all sang until our voices gave out. Have you ever been in the middle of a moment, and taken a mental Polaroid? Well, I took more than a few. I'm not sure I've had that much fun in years.

Oh, and on a quick side note, I found an older photo that was still on the camera (shameless!) from Cole's 8th birthday party, last year. I'll sneak it in because... well... it's my blog. :)

Did I mention that I hate character cakes? ;)
Thank you! It's definitely getting easier the more cakes I make. With 4 kids, I should be an expert in a couple of years! :)
Tiers?! You made a cake with tiers?! You are amazing. Seriously.

Also, I must say that I too, do the mental polaroid thing. Love it. :)
WOW!! Your cakes are amazingly beautiful!

(I also make mental memories!)
